the Learning from Experience Trust

The Trust is an experienced research, consultancy and evaluation organisation, which has developed a sound track record for its work on national projects concerned with assessing the effectiveness and impact of changes in educational policy.

As its name suggests the Trust’s early work focused on investigating how to recognise what people learn through their own experience. More recently LET’s research has focused on the use of Experiential Learning for widening participation and improvements in student success (ie retention and achievement). The Trust is also working in the areas of informal learning, community development, and learning from volunteering

The Trust’s expertise includes:

  • The design of quantitative and qualitative research strategies
  • Undertaking desk research and data analysis
  • Designing survey questionnaires
  • Undertaking field work including interviews, the use of focus and expert groups, direct observation, activity sampling and electronic data collection
  • Analysis and summaries of emerging findings with regard to triangulation, validity and reliability of data
  • Production of research reports, and evaluation summaries
  • Facilitating the dissemination of research results
  • Consultancy and Project Management.
